Recent Answer : Added by Admin On 2020-05-17 12:03:59:

let the total work to be done =1
so a+b+c=1 (say)
then a and b are supposed to do 7/11 th of work
so c= 1- (7/11)
c=4/11
therefore c gets (4/11)*550
=200 is the answer

Ques:- If a salesman’s average is a new order every other week, he will break the office record of the year. However, after 28 weeks, he is six orders behind schedule. In what proportion of the remaining weeks does he have to obtain a new order to break the record?
Recent Answer : Added by narendra On 2021-12-25 15:45:39:

Assume there are 52 weeks in one year.
Since he supposed to have a new order for every two weeks, he
needs 52/2 = 26 orders to break the office record.

Now after 28 weeks,he has got only 28/2 -6 = 8 orders.

Hence,he needs 26-8 = 18 new orders in the remaining 24= 52-28 weeks to break the office record.

Compute 24 orders/18 weeks = 4/3 orders/week ,
we see that averagely he has a new order for
every 4/3 weeks in the remaining weeks to break the office record.

Ques:- There are two candles of equal lengths and of different thickness. The thicker one lasts of six hours. The thinner 2 hours less than the thicker one. Ramesh lights the two candles at the same time. When he went to bed he saw the thicker one is twice the length of the thinner one. How long ago did Ramesh light the two candles?
Recent Answer : Added by Naru Mani Chandan On 2022-03-18 09:18:12:

Thin candle melts 3/4 in 3 hours leaving 1/4
Where as in the same time thick candle melts 3/6 leaving 3/6 which is 1/2. Now thick candle is exactly twice than the thin candle.

Or via modeling:

We need to find time at which the length of the thin candle is half the thick candle. Let x be the time. Thin candle melts at 1/4 an hour and thick candle melts at 1/6 an hour. In x hours they melt at x/4 and x/6 respectively. What’s left will be 1 – x/4 and 1 – x/6. We need to find x at which :

2 * (1 – (x/4)) = 1 – (x/6)

This equation results in x = 3

=r1^3/r2^3=1^3/2^3=1/8
