Ques:- A hollow cube of size 5cm is taken , with the thickness of 1cm . it is made of smaller cubes of size 1cm . if the outer surface of the cube is painted how many faces of the smaller cubes remain unpainted?

5x5x6 = 150 cube

150 – 20( corner cube) = 130 cube

130 x 3 (side remaining) = 390
20 x 2 (side remaining) = 40
total side remaining = 390 + 40 = 430

Ques:- A polygon has maximum 1325 diagonals. How many vertices does it have?

The formula to find number of diagonals (D) given total number of vertices or sides (N) is

N * (N – 3)

D = ———–

Using the formula, we get
1325 * 2 = N * (N – 3)
N2 – 3N – 2650 = 0

Solving the quadratic equation, we get N = 53 or -50

It is obvious that answer is 53 as number of vertices can not be negative.

Alternatively, you can derive the formula as triange has 0 diagonals, quadrangel has 2, pentagon has 5, hexagon has 9 and so on……

Hence the series is 0, 0, 0, 2, 5, 9, 14, …….. (as diagram with 1,2 or 3 vertices will have 0 diagonals).

Using the series one can arrive to the formula given above.

Ques:- There are 3 baskets. one of them have apples, one hasoranges only and the other has mixture of apples andoranges. The labels on their baskets always lie. Assum that the lables are : mixture, apples and orange
we have to take out one fruit from the mixture basket an see:
if it’s an apple –
it means that this basket is filled with apples
and so, the third basket is mixture
and the second one is filled with oranges.
if it’s an orange –
it means that this basket is filled with oranges
and so, the second basket is mixture
and the third one is filled with apples.

Which means the train will travel 180 m in 6 seconds so
We need to convert this into minutes
6×10 = 60s= 1 minute.
180×10 = 1800 m train will travel 1.8 km in 1 minute.
1.8×60 = 108 kmph

x and y can be equal to 1..
If so,then he gets 1/1 of Rs.10 which is equal to 10 and
again 1/1 of Rs.10=Rs.10..so,he gets total of 20..and
returns 20..so,no gain and no loss..
If x=1,y=2,he gets, 5+20=25..and returns 20..so he may not
lose..
So,whatever be the values of x and y,only these two answers
are possible..
so its a)He never loses..
