Ques:- In a class of 60 students, the number of boys and girls participating in the annual sports is in the ratio 3 : 2 respectively. The number of girls not participating in the sports is 5 more than the number of boys not participating in the sports. If the number of boys participating in the sports is 15, then how many girls are there in the class? (1) Data inadequate (2) 20 (3) 25 (4) 30 (5) None of these

let no. of boys not participating be x
then the no. of girls not participating = x+5
no. of boys : girls participating = 3:2
given no.of boys participating = 15
therefore, the ratio is now 15:y(say)
then 3:2 = 15 : x
on solving 3/2 =15/y ie.., 3y =30 we get y =10
hence no. of girls participating =10
therefore total no of students paricipating = 15+10=25
total no of students in class =60 given
hence no. of students not participating = 60-25=35
therefore x+(x+5)=35
2x=30
x=15
therfore no of girls not participating =15+5=20
therefore total no of girls in class = no of girls
participating + no of girls not participating
=10+20
=30 is the answer

Ques:- There is a leak in the bottom of a cistern. When the cisternis thoroughly repaired, it would be filled in 3 ? hours. It now takes half an hour longer. If the cistern is full, howlong will the leak take to empty the cistern?

A. 24 hours

B. 28 hours

Time taken to fill repaired cistern = 12 mins

In 1 min, pipe will fill = 1/12

Time taken to fill cistern with leak = 12 + 18 = 30 mins

In 1 min, it will fill = 1/30

Consider the leak as an outlet pipe, so

1/30 = 1/12 – [ in 1 min how much the outlet pipe leaks ]

= 1/12 – 1/30

= 5/60 – 2/60 = 3/60 = 1/20

Therefore, it will take 20 mins for the leak to empty the cistern

(500m*60sec)/750m=40sec the time will take to pass

so interest of 2 years = 1875 -1725

= 150

so interest of 1 year = 75

so interest of 3 years = 75 × 3 =225 rs

so , Principal = Amount – SI

= 1725 – 225

= 1500 rs

now ,

S.I. = P × N × R /100

75 = 1500 × 1 × R /100

R = 75 / 15

R = 5%

consume time.
speed of car = 2 * speed of auto.
auto takes 30 mins then car should take only 15 mins.
total time = 10 mins + 15 mins = 25 mins = (a)
